A couple weeks ago, Martin needed to attend a seminar in Zürich for work. I caught a train there in the late afternoon and wandered around the city taking photos until the evening when we met up for dinner. I have to admit, Zürich is not my favourite city. Yes, it is beautiful and lively and the shopping is awesome, but I always feel like I’m going to get run over by a car or a bicycle when I’m there. I know this is an irrational fear, but the city seems so much bigger than the others that I’m used to, the streets much wider and congested.
That being said, I did enjoy my time there. I went into a few clothing stores, resisting the urge the buy anything and took a few photos for other tourists when they asked. I even was able to understand some German and try a little myself. When I asked to pay in German at the pub where we had dinner, the server gave my high five. So, in this case, I did tip her (and more than 10%).
Martin is in Zürich again for some meetings today and I will be meeting up with him. This time, I don’t think I’ll be able to resist buying a few new things, my will power does have its limitations.
