Last Friday was Swiss National Day. Martin and I took advantage of his day off from work and headed over to Spiez, a small city on the shores of Lake Thun, 30 minutes from Bern. The weather held out until late into the afternoon, giving us just enough time to explore the lakefront and enjoy a beer overlooking the marina.
Throughout the day, the calm, relaxing atmosphere was interrupted by jarring mini explosions coming from all directions. It was a little confusing because they sounded like fireworks, but why set them off in the middle of the afternoon? Crazy Swiss.
